The journal Voltarea International Journal (VTRIJ), established in 2025 and published by DB Ediciones, is committed to maintaining high standards of quality in all its publications.
Crossmark is a collaborative initiative by Crossref that provides a standardized way for readers to identify the current version of content. Voltarea International Journal ensures the preservation of published material and notifies readers of any modifications made.
Research continues beyond the initial publication: articles may be updated with additional information or corrections. Therefore, it is essential for readers to know whether cited content has been modified, corrected, or withdrawn. This commitment is supported through the use of Crossmark. It is a standardized button, consistent across all platforms, that indicates the current status of content and can display additional metadata chosen by the publisher. The Crossmark button is also embedded in PDF files, alerting readers to changes even months or years after downloading the document.
With a single click, readers can verify whether content has been updated, corrected, or withdrawn, as well as access additional metadata provided by the publisher, such as key publication dates (submission, review, acceptance), authors’ ORCID IDs, content type, plagiarism detection results, funding information, license, peer review status, and research data location.
For Crossmark purposes, there are two types of updates: minor and major.
Minor updates include formatting and spelling corrections that do not involve substantial changes requiring reader notification, so the Crossmark status remains “current.” Likewise, if changes do not affect attribution or interpretation, the status remains unchanged. This also applies to article version control: when differences between versions do not represent significant alterations, the Crossmark status is maintained.
Major updates, on the other hand, alter the Crossmark status because they indicate important changes in the published literature. Significant changes, such as article retraction due to errors or addition/removal of authors, must be reflected in the Crossmark status. It is recommended to publish a formal correction or retraction notice (with its own DOI) that is freely accessible, allowing readers to follow the Crossmark button and view complete details of the update.
